China to build giant radio telescope on Moon by 2030s

**China Aims to Build Massive Radio Telescope on the Moon by 2030s**

China has unveiled ambitious plans to construct a giant radio telescope on the far side of the Moon by the 2030s. The groundbreaking project, designed to explore the universe's "dark ages" and search for extraterrestrial signals, would be the first of its kind on the lunar surface.

Unlike Earth-based telescopes, the lunar telescope would avoid interference from human-made radio noise and our planet's ionosphere, allowing astronomers to study faint cosmic signals from the early universe. The proposed telescope—likely built using robotic installations—could stretch over a kilometer in diameter, dwarfing Earth's largest radio dishes.

This mission aligns with China's growing space ambitions, including its Chang'e lunar exploration program and plans for a future Moon base. If successful, the telescope could revolutionize radio astronomy, offering unprecedented insights into cosmic evolution and potential alien civilizations.

International scientists have shown keen interest, as the Moon's unique environment makes it an ideal location for next-generation astronomy. The project could mark a major leap in humanity's quest to unravel the universe's deepest mysteries.
